About Us

At Hassler Dressage, we are dedicated professionals who are motivated by our passion for dressage and sporthorse breeding. With over 20 years of experience in training and competing in FEI-sport — both nationally and internationally — Scott and Susanne are dedicated to the development of our country’s training, education, and sporthorse breeding programs. We bring true experience and commitment to each relationship. We develop horses and riders to reach their full potential— from young horses to Grand Prix — and continue to breed top quality horses for today’s sports. We are committed to providing progressive dressage education for the horse and rider while serving our community through educational events related to breeding and sport.

Hassler Dressage resides at Riveredge, a beautiful estate in Chesapeake City, Maryland with a training center that is a true architectural gem. The grandeur of this training paradise is unparalleled. Every detail exhibits the passion and careful thought that lies behind its construction. A spacious indoor arena with enormous laminated wooden arches bears a full glass gable end and long sides constructed of operable glass windows that readily convert the space to the feeling of a covered arena. Artisan glass transom windows adorn substantial, handcrafted doorways made of 150 year old White Oak throughout the facility. Barrel ceilings framed by towering wooden pillars with arching metalwork create passages for horse and human in each wing that leave visitors inspired.

Copper embellishments on the buildings cupola tops, balconies, gutters, rainspouts—even delicate copper rain chains– add unprecedented charm. The horses reside in 28 spacious 14’ x 14’ stalls with dutch doorways overlooking the covered walk which surrounds the facility. The facility is finished with an elegant clubhouse that accommodates offices and large groups for educational events and meetings in warm and intimate settings as well as an equine therapy room equipped with a Ferno AquaPacer and Solarium.

Many come to visit simply to be inspired by the building and grounds let alone to consider one of the breeding stallions, take a lesson, or attend one of our many educational events. We hope you will join us and become part of this active dressage community, where the energy is always positive and the doors for learning are always open!
