Desiderio is a model student with a fantastic desire to learn and enthusiasm for the work. He has tremendous capability for collection, which coupled with his keen ability to understand gives us great hope for a big future for Desiderio’s FEI career. “He impresses us on a daily basis with his development and improvement in training,” shares Ingo Pape.
Desiderio is proving to continually pass along the famous D-Line traits. His offspring demonstrate Desiderio’s uphill build with his active trot. They are expressive and modern in type and will surely take center stage in the show ring.

Desiderio has tremendous depth for performance in his heritage with internationally proven stallions in every generation. His sire, Dimaggio is World Champion with proven with ability to produce international class dressage horses as well. Dimaggio was the Reserve Champion of his stallion performance testing at Neustadt/Dosse, placing 2nd in dressage with a high index of 133.39. He went on to place 4th among Germany’s best at the 1999 Bundeschampionat and soon after made a sweeping victory of the British Young Horse Championships under Suzanne Davis. He went on to become the World Champion 5 year old at the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses and continued a successful competition career up through Intermediare I. Dimaggio has nearly 20 licensed sons, including Premium stallion Diamo Gold who was also named Oldenburg State Champion. His son FS Demirel was a finalist of the Bundeschampionat. Dimaggio also sired Austrian Young Horse Champion and competitor at the FEI World Championships for Young horses, Bartlgut’s Duccio. His offspring continue to sell at top price at the auctions in Vechta. In 2011 Dimaggio was the Leading Dressage Sire for the BEF Futurity. Dimaggio’s granddaughter, Farouche, blew away the competition at both the 2011 and 2012 FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses, claiming a double Gold Medal finish at this prestigious venue. Dimaggio’s offspring’s continued successes are helping this stallion make a lasting mark on the dressage breeding world.
Dimaggio’s sire, the Oldenburg stallion Don Primero is a direct descendant of three top dressage stallions: Donnerhall, Pik Bube, and Unkenruf. Don Primero won the Bundeschampionat as a 5-year old and had numerous wins at Grand Prix under Karin Rehbein. Most impressively, Don Primero led the world’s dressage breeding index for four consecutive years and had an incredible index of 193 in 2003. Don Primero produced six licensed sons including the 1999 Bundeschampionat winner Don Larino. His offspring have been highly successful in sport up through the Grand Prix Level. His daughter Syncytia won the title for best three-year-old mare in Sweden in 2006. Don Primero’s daughter Cherie was the Gold Medalist at the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses and won the Nürnberger Burgpokal Final in 2003. In 2006, the Don Primero’s offspring earnings totaled over 537,000 Euro.
Desiderio’s dam StPrSt Maradonna was the highest placed 4yo in the German Mare Championship and also produced the Oldenburg Champion stallion Furstenball. This special mare is a full sister to Oldenburg Champion Seiger Hit’s dam. Their sire Donnerhall was the foundation stallion at Gronwohldhof stud and celebrated a wonderful international Grand Prix career under Karin Rehbein. Donnerhall is known for his expressive piaffe, passage and extended trot. Donnerhall’s performance career includes such international highlights as individual Bronze Medal and German Team Gold at the 1994 FEI World Equestrian Games, 5th place 1995 Volvo Dressage World Cup; 4th place 1998 FEI World Championships in Rome. In 1997 Donnerhall won the prestigious European World Cup Freestyle League. Donnerhall’s breeding achievements are no less impressive. In 1998 Donnerhall was named Oldenburg Stallion of the Year. In Germany alone Donnerhall has over 50 approved sons. Some of Donnerhall’s most famous offspring include Davingnon, Don Schufro, De Niro, Don Frederico and Don Gregory. Donnerhall will continue to pass on his ability for the collected movements, presence and rideability for generations to come.
Desiderio’s maternal damsire, the beautiful and expressive Holsteiner stallion Classiker, adds a special touch of athletic blood to this talented young stallion. During Classiker’s short breeding career he produced 9 licensed sons and many premium mares that are successful in show jumping. In 1992 Classiker was a finalist at the Bundeschampionat in show jumping. Classiker made a great impact on the breeding and show jumping world in the short time he was alive.
Desiderio has all the makings of an excellent breeding and competition stallion. His natural athleticism is obvious and his legendary heritage only strengthens the opportunity for his quality to be reliably reproduced. We eagerly look forward to watching his own legacy in sport and breeding unfold.
