About Diamo Gold

Diamo Gold won our hearts from the first moment we met him! His charming disposition, light and lovely way of going, and obvious talent made him an easy choice in our search for a prospect for international sport. It was a plus that he was already a well recognized quality breeding stallion with top credentials to boot!Diamo_Susanne_1_web

Diamo Gold was awarded 1st Premium at his Oldenburg Stallion Licensing in 2009. In 2011, Diamo was the Oldenburg Regional Champion, qualifying him for the German National Championships, the Bundeschampionat. Again, as a 5-year old, he qualified for the Bundeschampionat with an 8.5. He confirmed his elite caliber by qualifying for the third year in a row for the Bundeschampionat in 2013 with an overall score of 8.4, receiving a 9.5 for his trot. In 2011, the VhW approved and licensed Diamo Gold, a coup for an Oldenburg branded stallion. In 2013, Diamo Gold was purchased by Harmony Sporthorses and was imported to the US. He will continue his show career as Harmony’s Diamo Gold under Susanne Hassler.Diamo_Susanne_2_web

Hassler Dressage is thrilled to present this wonderful stallion to mare owners across North America! We are confident that his exceptional bloodlines, his ultra-modern expression, and his generous character are a terrific fit for breeders seeking to produce a competitive and marketable prospect. Diamo Gold’s book will be limited therefore mare owners must apply for consideration. Early applications are encouraged, as there is already considerable interest in this exciting new stallion. He will be available to breeders starting early April, 2014.

Diamo Gold’s highly interesting pedigree brings depth and enrichment to our stallion line up. His sire, Dimaggio is a World Champion with proven ability to produce international class dressage horses. Dimaggio was the Reserve Champion of his stallion performance testing at Neustadt/Dosse, placing 2nd in dressage with a high index of 133.39. Dimaggio_1_webHe went on to place 4th among Germany’s best at the 1999 Bundeschampionat and soon after made a sweeping victory of the British Young Horse Championships under Suzanne Davis.

As a 5 yr old he was World Champion at the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses and continued a successful competition career up through Intermediare I. Dimaggio has nearly 20 licensed sons, including his son FS Demirel who was a finalist of the Bundeschampionat. Dimaggio also sired Austrian Young Horse Champion and competitor at the FEI World Championships for Young horses, Bartlgut’s Duccio. In 2011 Dimaggio was the Leading Dressage Sire for the BEF Futurity. At the 2013 World Breeding Young Horse Championships, Dimaggio was represented four times in the 6-year-old division. In 2013, offspring by Dimaggio carried his torch into the German National Championships, the Bundeschampionat. The D-line, descending from the great world stallion Donnerhall, is certainly proving to reliably produce champions and is heavily spoken of in training and breeding circles around the world, especially since the 2012 Olympic Games in London where such a predominance of Donnerhall offspring commanded center stage.

The Oldenburg stallion Ex Libris adds further rideability to this exceptional young stallion’s heritage. ExLibris_tr1a_webEx Libris himself was the winner of his 100-day performance test in 1991, receiving 9’s for rideability and general gaits. He successfully competed to the advanced level in dressage. Ex Libris sired four licensed sons including the 1997 winner of the Bundeschampionat Four Year old division Exupery and Escapado, the stallion that Carl Hester rode in the 2004 Olympics. Ex Libris’ Thoroughbred sire Elan xx brings considerable refinement and agility to this impressive stallion.

Diamo Gold’s granddam sire Grundstein II enhances his gene pool further with the extraordinary G-line influence. The G-line is the known for producing international performance horses in both dressage and jumping. Famous G-Line dressage horses include: Gifted, Grundstein (full brother to Grundstein II) Grunox, Gigalo, and Goldstern. Jumping champions from the G-Line include: Gladstone, Genuis, Grand Plaisir, and Grandeur. Grundstein_II_cf1a_webGrundstein II’s full brother Grundstein I competed at Grand Prix and was the leading sire in the FN rankings in both jumping and dressage from 1988-2000. Grundstein II himself was in the Top Ten German Stallions in 1994 and was the sire of Gemenei, winner of the 1993 German Professional Championships.

Such powerful genetic influence lends a strong suit to a breeding stallion’s credentials. It underlies much of the innate performance capability we find in Diamo Gold, that which inspires us daily and causes us to believe in his profound talent. His influence as a breeding sire is already coveted for this same reason.
