It is such a pleasure to have Baroncelli as part of our daily lives! We have had the privilege of knowing him throughout his life and personally cheer him on at many of his big victories. We were always impressed by his solid character, cashmere gaits, and glowing charm. We have so enjoyed the opportunity to now campaign Baroncelli at Grand Prix and to offer him to North American breeders. He is such an honest stallion and tries hard to please at all times. Professionals and amateurs alike find much to love in Baroncelli and his offspring!
Baroncelli has never failed to shine. He was Champion of his stallion licensing in Verden in the year 2000 and the Champion of his stallion performance test in Muenster-Handorf with a dressage index of 135.9 and well-above average scores for his jumping. In 2002, the Hanoverian Verband awarded Baroncelli the significant title “Best Hanoverian Stallion of the Year” which to date had never been awarded to a privately owned stallion. He was the Reserve Champion of the Bundeschampionat (German National Championships) in 2002, having won with first qualification with a 9.1.
As a 5- and 6-year old, Baroncelli won his qualifying round at the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Verden and finished 4th place overall. He had several wins and top placings in Wiesbaden, Verden and Alfalterbach as he developed toward Germany’s ‘developing horse championships’ (the Nuernberger Berg Pokal for 7-9 year olds). At the finals in Frankfurt in 2007, Baroncelli celebrated a 4th place finish. Baroncelli made his earliest Grand Prix in 2008 and has matured to produce scores reliably 66-68% with his best scores topping 70% at Grand Prix.
Baroncelli’s offspring have demonstrated outstanding qualities as riding horses. Many excellent riding horses by Baroncelli have been sold through the Verden Elite auction. His Hanoverian licensed son Black Tie (ds. Raphael-Gardestern) earned 8’s for character and jumping ability at his stallion performance test at Adelheisdorf. He was imported to the US and is a recognized producer of hunter offspring. His son Bradley Beach was one of the top FEI Junior horses in Hungry and participated in the 2012 European Jr/Young Rider Championships. Baroncelli’s kind and generous nature underlies his keen ability to perform and is clearly evident in his offspring.

Baroncelli’s sire, Bergamon (below), won both his 100 day test and his performance test. At his stallion testing, Bergamon scored a dressage index of 126.12. He sired the Henststation Pape Foal Show Champion four years in a row as well as five approved sons, including the two Premium Hanoverian stallions Bugatti Hilltop and Baroncelli. Bergamon trained through FEI, exhibiting power and elegance in all three gaits. His last rider, Paige Peters-Windham spoke passionately about her former mount, “I’ve never had so much fun with any horse. He worked so hard for me and never said no! I’ve also had the opportunity to ride several of his offspring and each time I find they have wonderful rideability and trainability, fantastic character and great athleticism! All of them worked so easily under saddle that they made excellent amateur horses, but had the gaits and quality that any trainer would love to have. He really leaves nothing to be desired.”
Bergamon’s sire, Baryshnikov, was Champion of his 100 Day Test. Baryshnikov is by Bolero (photo, below), a stallion with a relatively short breeding career, but a huge impact on dressage horses, founding the new B-line of the 1990’s. Bolero sired nearly 50 stalllions, including the very successful and famous Brentano II. Three Bolero descendants have medaled in the Olympic Games: Brentina (USA Team Bronze 2004, Debbie McDonald), Bonaparte (Germany Team Gold 2004 and 2008, Individual Bronze 2008, Heike Kemmer), and Beauvalais (2004 Team Silver, Individual Bronze Spain, Beatriz Ferrer-Salat). Baryshnikov’s dam is St. Pr. Allergirl, full sister to US Grand Prix horse, Allerlord. This dam line was prolific in producing States Premium mares. Baryshnikov stood at Hengststation Pape for several years where he was trained to I-1 in a very short time and was a real gentleman.
Bergamon is out of St. Pr. St. Paola, full sister to the influential Oldenburg stallions Pik Bube I and II as well as St.Pr. St. Pirola who produced the premium stallion Donnerschlag. Paola is by Pik Koenig (photo, right), the most famous son of the successful showjumper Pik As xx (photo, below left). Pik Koenig sired 19 approved sons and 22 State Premium mares. His progeny were successful in dressage as well as in the upper echelons of showjumping. St. Pr. St. Paola’s most famous offspring include St. Pr. St. Primavera (by Donnerhall), a States Premium Oldenburg mare, who was the Champion Mare of the Oldenburg Elite Mare Show in 1992 and was also the Dressage Champion at the Bundeschampionat that same year. Primavera held a record with her States Premium licensing score of 9.44 for many years, with highlight scores of 10 for trot and canter and 9.5 for walk and rideability.
Baroncelli’s dam’s sire is the black French Anglo-Arabian stallion, Matcho AA (photo, right), who after being purchased by the State Stud, won his performance test in 1992 at Adelheidsdorf. His win of the performance testing was highly acclaimed, given as an anglo-arab, he surpassed all warmblood stallions at the testing. A well-known refinement stallion, Matcho AA offspring have good temperaments and rideability, quality gaits and ample show jumping talent.
